At the University on the Hill, there teaches a Professor,
A man of books, a man of pride,
He believed his education was the pinnacle,
And refused to listen to any new tide.

Intelligent Design was a theory,
He did not wish to entertain,
For he held fast to evolution,
And thought all else was in vain.

Real scholars, academia believes,
Should not be swayed by every wind,
Yet he failed to see the truth,
Letting his preconceptions blind.

Professor from the great university on earth,
He thought he held all knowledge true,
But progress eluded him,
For he was closed to ideas that were new.

Why create obstacles,
To the great owner’s way?
Rejecting profound messages,
From the great prophet, day by day.

Colleagues will soon isolate you,
For they know your ways are flawed,
The “scholar” stood firm in his beliefs,
Refusing to listen for too long.

Wasting away opportunities for the University,
To decide on matters of great concern,
His stubbornness and ignorance,
Only caused the situation to burn.

The Professor on the Hill in the great land of milk,
His ears blocked to profound information,
He believed human beings evolved,
But perhaps he needs new education.

For to be a true scholar,
Means to be open to new knowledge,
Not letting narrow-mindedness,
Create obstacles to progress in college.

So let this be a lesson to us all,
To be open to ideas that are new,
For it is only through understanding,
That we follow the evidence where it leads.
