JOURNAL OF CREATION

The journal is celebrating over 40 years of service to the global creationist community. Since its first issue in April 1984, it has focused on publishing peer-reviewed research and commentary that upholds the authority of Scripture while staying informed by scientific developments.

Initially called the Ex Nihilo Technical Journal, it was created as a technical companion to Creation magazine. It provided a broad scientific platform—covering biology, geology, astronomy, and philosophy—where researchers could propose, critique, and evaluate technical creationist models.

The journal underwent several branding evolutions over the decades. It was renamed the Creation Ex Nihilo Technical Journal in 1991, adopted the “TJ” logo in 2001, and finally transitioned to its current title, Journal of Creation, in 2006

As the publication grew, it introduced new sections to accommodate different types of discourse. This included “Perspectives” and “Book Reviews,” as well as “Viewpoints” for speculative ideas, a “Forum” for debating major disagreements, and “Essays” for extended commentaries.

The journal expanded its editorial team and, in 2015, began offering a digital version with color illustrations. Due to international mailing restrictions and rising costs during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the journal was forced to move primarily to a digital-only format

The editorial concludes by noting that over these 40 years, creationist research has matured significantly across fields like genetics and Flood geology

It highlights that while evolutionary theory faces its own internal upheavals, the journal continues to test scientific ideas rigorously using God’s Word as the starting point
