BRINGING TURKANA UNIVERSITY COLLEGE ON BOARD

The University College, located in Lodwar, Turkana County, borders South Sudan to the northwest, Uganda to the west, and Ethiopia to the north.

On 5th September 2024, the BioCosmos Kenya (BCK) team paid a courtesy visit to Prof. George Chemining’wa, Principal of Turkana University College. Eager to learn about this new scientific theory, Prof. Chemining’wa welcomed the discussion with great interest. The BCK team explained that their mission is to advance the theory of Intelligent Design, which posits that “many features in the universe and life are best explained by an intelligent cause.”

Dr. Richard Ochieng’, Chairperson of BCK, detailed their approach, which includes delivering public lectures, forming student clubs, and providing reading materials on Intelligent Design, among other activities. Prof. Chemining’wa, a scholar who values the ongoing pursuit of knowledge with dedication, curiosity, and open-mindedness, approved the team’s plan to deliver a public lecture on Intelligent Design in October 2024 and to establish a BCK student club at the institution.

Targeting Young Scholars

The BCK team also paid a courtesy visit to the Dean of Students at Turkana University to initiate the process of forming a BCK student club at the institution. The club’s goal is to engage young scholars from diverse backgrounds and experiences in re-examining the origins of the universe and life through the lens of Intelligent Design. This initiative aims to empower students to broaden their scholarly perspectives, moving beyond a single theory of origins and considering alternative arguments presented by Intelligent Design. Such an approach represents a significant step toward academic freedom.
