BioCosmos Kenya, in collaboration with St. Paul’s University, held a Public Lecture and Academic Forum on Intelligent Design on 2 July 2026, bringing together faculty members and students for interdisciplinary discussion on science, origins, purpose and design.

Participants were drawn from the Schools of Theology, Education, Social Sciences, Clinical Medicine, Business and ICT, creating a diverse academic platform for engaging contemporary questions concerning the origin and complexity of life and the universe.

Decoding Creation

The keynote presentation, titled “Decoding Creation: What Modern Scientific Data Reveals About Purpose in the Universe,” examined contemporary scientific evidence relating to biological information, molecular machines, cosmological fine-tuning and the informational properties of DNA.

Participants were introduced to key Intelligent Design concepts and five approaches used in design detection:

The discussion also addressed the distinction between micro-evolution and macro-evolution, while exploring the relationship between scientific evidence, Intelligent Design, philosophy and theology.

Interdisciplinary Academic Dialogue

The forum generated lively discussion among faculty, students and practicing clergy. Participants explored the scientific basis of design detection, the relationship between Intelligent Design and evolutionary theory, and the distinction between Intelligent Design and Creationism.

The multidisciplinary audience broadened the discussion to include cosmology, molecular biology, philosophy of science, theology, purpose and human existence, providing a platform for respectful and informed academic exchange.

Expanding Learning and Research Opportunities

Participants received practical demonstrations on accessing the BioCosmos Africa Course (Track 1) and BioCosmos Kenya’s online resources. They were also introduced to the BioCosmos Africa Research Fund – 2026 Call, including opportunities for interdisciplinary and multi-university research collaboration.

St. Paul’s University Student Club Officially Inducted

A major highlight of the event was the official induction of the BioCosmos Kenya Student Club – St. Paul’s University Chapter.

Student leaders and members were oriented on their roles and encouraged to organize academic discussions, reading groups, seminars and outreach activities focused on Intelligent Design and related scientific questions.

The chapter provides a platform for sustained academic engagement within the University and opportunities to extend informed discussions into churches, seminaries and faith-based educational institutions.

Strengthening Institutional Partnership

The engagement strengthened collaboration between BioCosmos Kenya and St. Paul’s University, while increasing awareness of BioCosmos academic programmes, membership opportunities, online learning and research initiatives.

The programme was coordinated by Dr. Kevin Muriithi, with academic sessions facilitated by Dr. Gift Mtukwa, Regional Coordinator, and Dr. Lencer Ndede. University leadership appreciated the academic approach and quality of discussions.

Looking Ahead

BioCosmos Kenya and St. Paul’s University will build on the engagement through future public lectures, academic forums, student activities, research collaboration and scholarly programmes.

The St. Paul’s University Student Club will play a key role in sustaining academic engagement, while faculty and students will be encouraged to participate in BioCosmos Africa courses and collaborative research initiatives.

The event marked another important step in expanding interdisciplinary academic dialogue on science, origins, information and design within Kenyan universities and beyond.
